Woman Found Dead in SUV: Boyfriend Arrested for Murder Following Investigation

In a shocking turn of events, an Atlanta woman was found dead in her SUV, in the early hours of the morning, the victim of a gunshot wound to the head. This tragic story took a darker turn, when her boyfriend, who originally claimed she had shot herself, was arrested and charged with her murder after further investigation by law enforcement officers.

Tragic Discovery by Officers

Local officers patrolling Zone 3 of Atlanta were flagged down by the driver of a Nissan Armada SUV at around 12:30 a.m, in the vicinity of a gas station on Cleveland Avenue. The driver reported that his female companion, the passenger in the vehicle, had received a gunshot wound. On inspection, the police discovered the lifeless body of a 42-year-old woman. She was declared dead at the scene by Grady Emergency Medical Services personnel.

Shift in Investigation

Initially, the man informed the officers that the female victim, his girlfriend, had tragically taken her own life. However, as the investigation proceeded, homicide detectives found probable cause and changed the trajectory of the case towards a potential homicide.

Arrest and Charges

The driver of the vehicle, 39-year-old Dontavious Wright, was subsequently arrested. After a concerted investigation, detectives found sufficient evidence to warrant charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime being leveled against the suspect. Wright was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Fulton County Jail.
