Atlanta’s Taylor ALXNDR Set to Release New Album “1993” on September 11th

Atlanta’s Multi-Talent: Taylor ALXNDR’s New Album “1993” Drops Soon!

Taylor ALXNDR has been a dynamic force in Atlanta, GA’s creative landscape since 2011, captivating hearts and minds with a blend of DIY music, drag performance, and community activism. Hailing from the rural outskirts of Atlanta, ALXNDR (they/she) has grown into a local legend, known not just for their artistry but for their unwavering commitment to empowering marginalized communities.

A Flagbearer for Southern Fried Queer Pride

ALXNDR is co-founder and current executive director of Southern Fried Queer Pride (SFQP), a non-profit organization based in Atlanta. SFQP is a beacon of support for the Black queer and QTPOC communities in the South, fostering empowerment through artistic expression. The organization has been instrumental in creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome and celebrated.

Trailblazing in the Drag Scene

Getting their start in the gritty, glittering dive bars of Atlanta’s subversive queer drag scene, ALXNDR has built a name both on and off the stage. She broke the mold in 2017 with her debut single “Nightwork”, a love letter to the vibrant yet shadowy nightlife. The single got the ball rolling for more musical offerings, leading to the release of her first EP Noise that same year.

Meteoric Rise with “Hologram”

In 2018, ALXNDR took another giant leap forward with the debut of her album Hologram. A fascinating look at the intersection of social media, technology, and communication, the album mixes dance-floor ready synth-pop with nostalgic 80s vibes. Critics praised Hologram for its multifaceted and heartwarming approach to music. It was lauded as a top 10 album to come out of Atlanta that year, with Bandcamp noting its “lovely, streetlamp-shimmery and radiator-warm” qualities that made it a beacon of communal healing in trying times.

A New Era with “1993”

Fans will be excited to know that ALXNDR is set to release her latest album 1993 on Friday, September 11th. The album promises to be an adventurous leap, continuing her tradition of blending thought-provoking themes with irresistible beats. True to her DIY ethos, ALXNDR has written, produced, and creatively directed all elements of her music. Her live shows also bring an array of these elements, combining interactive and improvisational drag with video projection and unforgettable music performances.

Accolades and Collaborations

ALXNDR is no stranger to high-profile collaborations. She has shared the stage with names like Charli XCX, King Princess, Junglepussy, Mr Twin Sister, and Sateen, to mention a few. Her contributions to the arts have been recognized far and wide, with features in publications like Vice, Forbes, Out Magazine, Vogue, and more. Notably, she received the titles of Atlanta’s Best Drag Queen and Best LGBTQ Performer in 2019, reinforcing her status as an icon in both the local and broader queer community.

A Legacy of Inclusivity

ALXNDR is more than just a performer; she is a nurturer of talent and community. As the mother of the House of ALXNDR, she has created a drag family and events hub that spotlights drag-centered, inclusive events. Her vision has been to create safe and celebratory spaces for all, fostering a community where everyone can freely express themselves.

Looking Forward

As we eagerly await the release of 1993, it’s clear that Taylor ALXNDR is not just a performer but a movement. With every song and performance, she continues to challenge norms, uplift marginalized voices, and remind us all of the power of art to inspire and unite.
