Southside Trail – Segments 2 and 3 to Officially Close for Construction

As of Monday, May 20, 2024, the Southside Trail sections from Pryor Road to Boulevard SE in Atlanta will officially close for construction. These include a concrete paved pedestrian pathway, storm drainage improvements, granite faced retaining walls, and vertical connections to adjacent streets such as Pryor Road, McDonough Boulevard, Hill, and Grant. Added features also comprise of signage/wayfinding, maintenance and improvement to Pryor and Hill bridges, pedestrian lighting and security cameras, landscaping and more.

Project Timeline

Prediction for the completion of construction is set for December 2025 with an anticipated re-opening date in the first quarter of 2026.

As the concept of the Atlanta BeltLine originates from grassroots community efforts, public involvement remains critical. Continued feedback from the community can ensure that the project aligns with the needs and expectations of the local people. The public is encouraged to attend virtual community meetings or provide comments on Master Plan updates to remain involved in the process.

The Atlanta BeltLine team thanks everyone for their patience as the necessary upgrades to the Southside Trail section continues.
