Atlanta’s Spookiest Tradition is Back: A Tour of Southern Ghosts Returns for its 39th Year

Hey, Atlanta! Halloween is right around the corner, and we’ve got the perfect event to get you in the spooky spirit. Back for its 39th year, A Tour of Southern Ghosts is making its homes in the Historic Square of Georgia’s Stone Mountain Park once again. If you haven’t experienced this family-favorite event, you’re in for a treat.

This unique storytelling festival promises an unforgettable adventure as it showcases some of the best ghost stories from the South. For six magical nights this fall, around 10,000 visitors will be taken on a lantern-lit tour of yesteryear, all wonderfully animated through the grand tradition of Southern storytelling. Intrigued?

When and Where?

Mark your calendars, folks! The guided tours will take place over the last three weekends in October—every Friday and Saturday from 7 PM to 9:30 PM. Tours depart approximately every ten minutes, and each enchanting journey lasts about 45 minutes.

Tantalizing Ticket Information

Ready to grab your tickets? They won’t break the bank! Tickets are priced at $8 for children under 12 and $17 for adults. If you’re planning ahead, discounted pre-sale adult tickets are available for $13 and can be purchased online, by phone, or in person at ART Station (770-469-1105). And remember, “One Day All Attraction Passes” and “Mountain Memberships” won’t be accepted for this event.

Whether you believe in ghosts or just want a good story to make you jump, this event is designed for kids, adults, and everyone in between. As you stroll along the lantern-lit paths, you’ll meet six professional storytellers who bring the haunted history of the South to life. Their spine-tingling tales are a mix of spooky fun and rich history, sure to captivate all who attend.

Sponsorship and Support

This year’s event is proudly sponsored by Discover Dekalb, Stone Mountain Park, the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club, and premier sponsor Publix Supermarkets and Charities. Their generous support ensures that this longstanding Atlanta tradition remains as magical and memorable as ever.
