167K Pounds Of Perdue Chicken Nuggets Recalled: Here’s What You Need To Know

Holy chicken! An astonishing 167,000 pounds of yer fave chicken breast nuggets and tenders shipped out by Perdue Foods just got yanked back in a major recall. Why, you ask? Well, it seems some folks have been finding bits of metal wire all up in their chicken bites.

How The Wire Got In There

Officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) shared the nitty-gritty details: the whole ‘metal-in-the-chicken’ problem came to light after customers starting dropping complaints about spotting wire in their chicken goodies. The FSIS, taking no chances, announced the recall on Friday. This recall covers about 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nugget and tender products. The big bummer? These products got shipped to retailers nationwide and even sold directly to online customers.

Health Alert or Not?

The FSIS confirmed that so far, no one’s reported getting sick from eating the metal-infested nuggs. Still, safety first, right? So, if you bought any of these bad boys, you’re encouraged to either fling ’em in the trash or return them back to the seller.

Which Products Are In The Recalling List?

The list includes:

  • 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages of “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with a ‘Best If Used By’ date of “03 23 25” mentioned at the back of the package.
  • 29-oz. (1.81-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages of “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS” with a ‘Best If Used By’ date of “03 23 25” noted on the back.
  • 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed packages of “BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets” labeled with a ‘Best If Used By’ date of “03 23 25”.

What If You’ve Eaten The Recalled Chicken?

If you’ve chomped down on any of the affected chickens, first, don’t freak out. As mentioned, there haven’t been any reports of people getting sick from this. But to stay on the safe side, if you start feeling dodgy, maybe have an injury you think might be related to the recalled products, get in touch with a healthcare provider ASAP.

Got any questions about the recall? Get on the horn with Perdue Consumer Care at 1 (866) 866-3703, and they should be able to help you out.

In a Nutshell

To wrap this up, if you’ve got any Perdue nuggets or tenders at home, give them a close check. Make sure they aren’t part of the recalled products. And if they are, don’t risk it. Trash it or take it back.
