Military Influencer Conference Aims to Empower Veterans in Business at Atlanta Event

Military Influencer Conference Comes to Atlanta: A Bridge to Business Success for Veterans

Hey Atlanta! There’s an incredible event on the horizon, one that’s bound to make a significant impact on our city’s vibrant military community. From September 29 through October 3, the Hilton Atlanta will host the Military Influencer Conference (MIC). This unique gathering is designed to support military veterans and their families who are navigating the exciting yet challenging path of entrepreneurship.

The MIC isn’t just a typical conference; it’s a beacon of hope and a resource hub for our brave servicemen and women as they transition from military life to business endeavors. The founder of the conference, Curtez Riggs, has a clear vision in mind. He wants attendees to leave with new connections, a sense of community, and the knowledge that they are not alone on this journey.

“They’re Not Alone”

One of the primary aims of the MIC is to replicate the sense of camaraderie that many veterans miss once they hang up their uniforms. Riggs eloquently describes it as, “In our service journey, we’re typically surrounded by a platoon, a squad, or some team representing the organizational bond that comes with service. When we step out of the uniform, in most cases, we’re found on our own.”

With sessions focusing on content creation, culture and advocacy, and transition & hiring, the MIC is set to provide a comprehensive learning experience. It introduces military-connected entrepreneurs to leading industry experts, offering insights into areas like innovation and advocacy.

Star-Studded Line-up

This year’s conference is expected to be particularly special. Among the speakers, you’ll find notable names such as Killer Mike, Danell Rawlins, and Jon Stewart. These speakers aren’t just there to share their wisdom; they’re also keen to connect with and support the attendees.

Success Beyond the Stars

The MIC isn’t just about learning—it’s about applying that knowledge and watching success stories unfold. One of the most heartwarming successes is that of Charlynda Scales, an Air Force veteran from Dayton, Ohio. Using her grandfather’s BBQ sauce recipe, Scales launched Mutt Sauce and found her tribe at MIC. Winning several pitch competitions, including one with Bob Evans Farms, led to further opportunities.

Today, Mutt Sauce is sold in various stores across the Midwest, and Scales runs the 6888 Incubator Kitchen in Dayton, aimed at helping other food and beverage entrepreneurs. Stories like Scales’ underscore the MIC’s potential to transform lives and build thriving businesses.

Why Atlanta?

So, why is Atlanta the chosen location for this impactful event? According to Riggs, the city’s large military community—home to some 314,000 military veterans—makes it an ideal venue. “I wanted a location that was not only diverse but full of industry that we didn’t have access to,” says Riggs. Companies like Truist Bank, Delta, and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium add to the city’s appeal, providing ample networking opportunities.

The Creator Economy

Another fascinating aspect of this conference is its focus on the creator economy, a booming $100 billion industry. Riggs mentions that military veterans can significantly benefit from creating impactful content—be it vlogging, podcasting, or writing. With dedicated sessions on how to earn financial opportunities through content creation, the MIC enriches veterans’ entrepreneurial journeys.

Looking Ahead

As the MIC gears up for yet another exciting event, the organizers and attendees alike are hopeful for a future filled with success stories similar to Charlynda Scales’. The conference stands as a testament to the power of community and the endless possibilities that open up when people come together to learn, grow, and support each other.

If you’re a service member, veteran, or spouse, this is your call to action. The MIC offers a unique opportunity to connect with the movers and shakers of the military community and expose yourself to new challenges and opportunities.

Atlanta, get ready to welcome and support our veterans as they break new ground in the world of business.
