Popular Midtown Atlanta Pub Bounces Back After Water Main Destruction

Good news, folks! Our beloved hangout spot, the Eleventh Street Pub, has tossed off its “Closed for Repairs” sign and officially opened for business again. For the pub regulars and the sports bar enthusiasts, this news comes nearly two months after a horrendous water main break in midtown Atlanta, caused water mayhem, flooding the entire building and causing massive damages.

Water Nightmare – The Catastrophic Main Break

All this mess started when a water main broke and released a deluge that made a disaster scene look like a kiddie pool. When the incident happened, a waterfall gushed onto Eleventh Street Pub, making it the worst-hit among all nearby places. Can you imagine enough water to fill up 40 swimming pools just rushing into a building? That’s a cool 100,000 gallons of water that flooded the pub and its basement kitchen. To say it was a nightmare would be a tragic understatement.

The Good Old Pub Gets a Makeover

But now, the picture is entirely different. With brand new floors and walls, the pub looks in mint condition. The best part? The wings are back and they’re flying off the kitchen counter. It’s the phoenix rising from the water-soaked rubble, folks! Speaking on the joyous occasion, owner Mike Taylor shared, “We are very, very happy to be reopened. Our staff is very happy, and the feeling of things getting back to normal is starting to set in,”.

The Challenging Cleanup and Recovery

We all saw how insane it was immediately after the main break. The floors were soaked and the walls were water-logged. The entire place was flooded to two feet. The recovery process was no piece of cake. After getting rid of the water, they had to assure that there was no mold – a slow and rigorous process. Seeing the pub back in its form is a testimony to the hard work put in by everyone involved with the cleanup and renovation.

Reopens Amid High Hopes and Expectations

The water trouble obviously cost the pub a pretty penny. The pub was trying to recover from the COVID shutdown, and then bam, the water main break happened. It seemed like they were knocked down twice. But just like the last time, they picked themselves up, dusted off, and sprang back to life. “We made it through COVID, we made it through this,” said a hopeful Taylor.

Let’s not forget the 16 hardworking employees who’ve stuck by the Pub during these tough times. They’re back, eager to serve up your favorite drinks and dishes. So let’s all show them some love and patronage, shall we? And did I hear something about a 10-wing special at an unbelievable price? Well… what are you waiting for? Head over to Eleventh Street Pub, your favorite midtown spot is back in business and eager to welcome you!
