We’ve been hearing Atlanta’s voices loud and clear. There’s been quite a chatter about which restaurants could possibly nab a shiny Michelin star this year. Among the most talked-about contenders is none other than Georgia Boy at Southern Belle. Funny enough, this shout-out came from its very own chef, Joey Ward, who also championed that the current one-starred Michelin Mujo deserves a bump up to two stars. Talk about being your own biggest fan!
Then there’s Maximilian Hines, the mastermind at Breaker Breaker, who tickled everyone’s funny bones by suggesting none other than “Waffle House”. Well, who doesn’t love a bit of cheeky humor with their crispy hash browns?

I have always been proud of this city’s food scene.” This sentiment is shared widely, highlighting the incredible flavors and unique dining experiences Atlanta continues to offer.

Not everyone, though, is swept up in the Michelin fervor. Victory Sandwich Bar came out with a cheeky quip, stating, “We got a bunch of old Michelin tires out back if anyone needs any.” And let’s not forget Chef Zack Meloy, who light-heartedly noted outside his pop-up Dirt Church Ceramics, “We’re still begging a tire company for their approval… cool.”
A Look Back at 2023
Last year’s ceremony awarded the prestigious one star to elite establishments such as Atlas, Bacchanalia, Hayakawa, Lazy Betty, and Mujo. The coveted Bib Gourmands were handed out to Antico, Arepa Mia, Banshee, Bomb Biscuit, Busy Bee Cafe, Estrellita, Fred’s Meat and Bread, Fishmonger, Heirloom Market BBQ, and Little Bear. It’s certainly a tough act to follow!
