Marietta Police Apprehend Suspect in Late-Night Shooting that Left One Dead

Marietta Experiences Late-Night Shooting Incident

MARIETTA, Ga. – On the late evening of September 13, around 10:15 p.m., Marietta police officers were urgently dispatched to a shooting incident that occurred outside building 25 at 2605 Bentley Road. Officers from the Cobb County Police Department (CCPD) were also in the vicinity and arrived swiftly at the scene to assist.

Upon arriving, officers discovered 21-year-old De’shaune Hall of Marietta lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts to provide aid by both officers and medical first responders, Hall tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Community Assistance Leads to Quick Suspect Identification

Thanks to the cooperation of witnesses at the scene, Marietta police quickly identified the suspect as 21-year-old Tavion Taylor of Atlanta. Witnesses also provided valuable information regarding the suspect’s address, located on Windy Ridge Lane, which is under the jurisdiction of the Cobb County Police Department.

Shortly after, CCPD officers arrived at the given address and spotted Taylor walking through the residential complex. Following a brief foot chase, officers managed to apprehend Taylor without incident and transported him to the Marietta Police Department for questioning.

Evidence Collection and Legal Actions

Search warrants were obtained for both the victim’s and the suspect’s residences. The thorough work of the officers, combined with witness statements and the physical evidence collected at both the crime scenes, led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Taylor.

Currently, Taylor faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, as per the Marietta Police Department. He is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Final Thoughts

This tragic event underscores the importance of community cooperation and swift law enforcement action. The ability to quickly identify and detain the suspect was crucial in ensuring public safety and speeding up the investigative process. While nothing can reverse the loss of De’shaune Hall, the community can take some comfort in knowing that the suspect has been apprehended and is facing the appropriate charges.

The investigation continues, and the Marietta Police Department has extended gratitude to all who assisted during this critical incident, underlining the community’s role in aiding justice and maintaining safety.
