Over six decades, Lenox Square has become so much more than just a mall – it’s a cherished symbol of Atlanta’s thriving culture, community, and commerce.
The party gets rolling with a public bash scheduled at 10 a.m. on August 1st. This fiesta will be located on the upper level right between your favorite Nike and Apple Store hotspots. The event will get you in the know about the illustrious history of Lenox Square. Plus, you’ll get to hear from some pretty cool speakers like Lenox Square’s very own General Manager, Robin Suggs. Not only that, but Atlanta’s esteemed Mayor Andre Dickens and Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum will also be tossing in their thoughts. So if this sounds like your kind of gig, get signing up!

On this day, the Atlanta City Council will be giving a royal shout-out to Lenox Square’s 65th dynasty during their full council meeting at the peppered with history – Atlanta City Hall, located inside the Marvin S. Arrington, Sr. Council Chamber. So, let’s all raise a toast to Lenox Square!

Lenox Square has been chalking up a legacy of significant milestones since its inception. This much-loved shopping haven initially opened its doors in August 1959, with a groundbreaking ceremony in the year 1957. In its initial days, Lenox Square distinguished itself as a hub of diverse entertainment options, including a lively bowling alley, an indoor golf driving range, and the Kresge five and dime store.
The following years were marked with regular renovations, expansions, and the addition of esteemed stores like Neiman Marcus. Even today, Lenox Square continues to maintain its grandeur and vibrancy offering a premier shopping experience to Atlanta’s residents and beyond.
Commenting on the milestone, General Manager Robin Suggs expressed gratitude to the community, visitors, staff, and retailers who had contributed to Lenox Square’s 65-year success story. Who can deny that the shopping center has evolved immensely from its humble beginning of 60 stores to a bustling retail wonderland with almost 250 landmarks today? Certainly not us!
