The Kroger Atlanta Division has taken a commendable step towards celebrating Earth Month this year. The division has announced that its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation is kicking off the month with a generous contribution to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization.
From now until the end of April, customers can opt to round their purchases up to the nearest dollar amount at the checkout. The rounded amounts will directly benefit WWF. Inspiring further generosity, the Kroger Co.’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation is doubling the effect by matching customer donations, up to a total of $50,000.
Every single donation made throughout April will directly aid WWF’s ongoing conservation and sustainability efforts. These initiatives span across local communities, all over the country, and around the globe, fuelled by the support of their five million members worldwide.
The corporate affairs manager for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, Tammie Young-Ennaemba, stated, “Kroger is proud to support healthy, thriving communities during Earth Month and every day through our Zero Hunger | Zero Waste impact plan.” Kroger’s Atlanta Division, encompasses Georgia, East Alabama, and South Carolina.
Alongside this initiative, Kroger, throughout this month, will be selling specially designed Zero Hunger | Zero Waste reusable bags. These bags, adorned with favourite Kroji characters, will entail a $1 donation to the Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation for every single purchase.
The Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation has been working tirelessly since its inception in 2018 to execute its commitment towards creating hunger-free and waste-free communities. Its collaborative and innovative approach towards community engagement has directed more than $59 million to organizations, innovators, and changemakers nationwide.
The Atlanta Division emphasizes upon a Zero Hunger | Zero Waste impact plan for better support and development of healthful and prosperous communities. Kroger’s unique role spans across multiple realms including food processing, healthcare provision, and retail, among others. The stats from the previous year, 2023, reported the rescue of more than 3.7 million lbs. of food. The total number of meals provided from these rescued foods amounted to 3.1 million. Furthermore, the Division’s 2023 round-up campaigns collectively led to a provision of 541 million meals for those grappling with food insecurity.
