It was another unforgettable evening in Kirkwood as the community came together on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, for the **annual Kirkwood Wine Stroll**. The event, organized by the Kirkwood Business Owners’ Association, transformed the streets into a lively and joyous celebration filled with wine, food, music, and art. This fundraiser supports the association’s operating fund, enhances the Kirkwood Business District, and benefits several local nonprofits.
The air buzzed with excitement as attendees sampled from hundreds of wine varieties. The aroma of delicious food wafted through the air, compliments of local culinary talents like Michael Johnson from Southern Queenz, who was seen expertly working the grill. Food stations were a hit, providing plenty of delectable bites to complement the assortment of wines.
Music filled the streets as the crowd enjoyed live performances. The Elegant Bachelors had folks dancing and singing along to their cover of Pearl Jam at the Empire Arts Gallery, where Brandi Smart and Sara Slick enthusiastically poured wines for patrons. Adding a creative touch to the evening, local artist Ben Butler from Happy Cup Studio displayed and sold his unique pieces, creating a delightful fusion of art and wine.
The sense of community was palpable. Friends and families strolled the streets, tasting wine and enjoying each other’s company. Natasha, Saking, and Janielle took a break from dancing at Valero for a quick photo, their smiles capturing the essence of the evening. Photo ops were plentiful, with bubbles adding a whimsical touch to memories captured by friends like Najja Parker, Kimeko McCoy, Janay Kingsberry, and Erica Hernandez.
The event featured numerous pouring stations, each offering unique wines for attendees to try. Don Edwards and Molly McLarty from Styrant Construction were seen diligently serving wine, ensuring no glass stayed empty for long. Community Electric’s owner, Lawrence Sturkey, brought an electrifying energy to his pouring station, engaging with guests and enhancing the festive mood.
New friendships were forged, and old ones were reinforced over good wine and great conversations. Ricardo Rodriguez, Alex Miller, Scott Chunlamany, and Sara Karaga enjoyed a relaxed evening at Jon+Randy Lounge, embodying the collaborative and friendly spirit of the event. Strolling with their glasses, Nicole Rijo and Nissa Eberly exemplified the laid-back enjoyment that the wine stroll encourages.
The event was not just a treat for wine enthusiasts but also a platform for local businesses to showcase themselves. Companies like Vin ATL had their talented team, Lisa Cunningham, and Danielle Kozik, pouring delightful selections while engaging with the crowd.
While wine was the star of the night, the event was a testament to the vibrant Kirkwood community. It was a time to support local art, music, and businesses while contributing to worthy causes. Attendees like Phil and Dayana Libby soaked in the good vibes of the evening, perfectly illustrating the collective enjoyment and purpose behind the event.
As the night drew to a close, the Kirkwood Wine Stroll wrapped up successfully, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating next year. This beloved community tradition continues to grow, bringing people together for nights of shared joy and mutual support.
