In a recent development in Atlanta, former star of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Kandi Burruss, has had all claims against her regarding unpaid rent for her restaurant dismissed. The landlord, Montego Pacific, Inc., announced in court documents that it is no longer pursuing these claims.
The claims initially included allegations that Burruss owed a substantial amount of $154,139.17 in back rent. Furthermore, the lawsuit sought an additional $56,495.75 for repairs made to the premises and included a 10% overhead fee, excluding interest. Burruss was added to the lawsuit, a move she alleges was motivated more by publicity than genuine grievance.
Burruss characterized the ongoing dispute as primarily a disagreement with the landlord over who is responsible for the repairs to the restaurant. Despite the turmoil, she expressed optimism that a resolution would be reached, indicating that an agreement is on the horizon.
While the personal claims against Burruss have been dismissed, the lawsuit against Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group, a business jointly managed by Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker, remains active. This group also operates Blaze Steakhouse, another popular dining venue.
Kandi Burruss opened her Atlanta restaurant in 2020 alongside her husband, further expanding her entrepreneurial ventures. In addition to this restaurant, the couple also owns a comfort food establishment called Old Lady Gang, which launched in Castleberry Hill in 2017.
Kandi Burruss is notable for being one of the longest-tenured cast members of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” having joined the cast in its second season back in 2010. She remained an influential part of the show until her departure in 2024, leaving a mark on the reality television landscape.
