Jonesboro High School’s Majestic Marching Cardinals to Make History at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

JONESBORO, GA—

Hey there! Big news is buzzing around town because the Majestic Marching Cardinals from Jonesboro High School are all set to light up the stage at the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! That’s right, folks! Our very own talented bunch is making history as the only band from Georgia to play in this year’s jazzy holiday spectacle.

This is a mega first for Jonesboro High, and honestly, it couldn’t be more exciting. You see, this band isn’t just any band—it’s a dynamic force with over 100 spirited members. They’re under the stellar leadership of Lynel Goodwin, Shannon Curry, and Ebony Harris, who have been guiding them to wild successes these past few years.

Why’s this Parade such a big deal? Well, apart from being a nationally-broadcast extravaganza, this parade is among several remarkable feathers in the Cardinals’ cap over recent years. Some past triumphs include playing at the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade and marching in the magnificent National Independence Day Parade. Oh, and did I mention the invitation from First Lady Jill Biden for a White House visit? Pretty cool, huh?

Mark your calendars, folks, because this isn’t the only upcoming grand event. The Cardinals are revving up for another international adventure—they’re marching straight to the London’s New Year’s Day Parade in 2026! That’s setting the bar sky-high!

A Message from the Top

There’s a whole lot of pride coming from the team’s leadership. “This is a monumental achievement, not just for our students but for the entire community,” shared Goodwin. “Their relentless commitment to excellence is paying off, and I couldn’t be prouder of all they’ve accomplished.”

A Call to Action

Now, here’s where we can all pitch in. To get our stars to New York City, they’re rallying for support via donations. The goal? A hefty $206,250. That’s approximately $1,375 per student to cover expenses. As of now, they’ve already raised a solid $16,939.53. Let’s help them hit their target and ensure the world gets to see the marvel that is the Majestic Marching Cardinals!

Oh, the parade’s lineup this year looks fantastic! Music lovers can look forward to listening to vibes from places like New York, Massachusetts, and Texas among others. It’ll be buzzing with performers T-Pain, Jennifer Hudson, The Temptations, and so many more. Plus, expect some incredible balloons, floats, and clown crews. All the joy is coming your way this Nov. 28 from 8:30 a.m. till noon in New York City. And yep, it’s gonna be live-streamed, so you better not miss out. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show on NBC or Peacock from the comfort of your couch.

So there you have it! Brace yourselves for some sensational performances from our own Majestic Marching Cardinals. Go, Cardinals, go!
