Helene, having intensified into a Category 2 storm with winds clocking at 90 miles per hour, is expected to hit Georgia late Thursday night, reaching the metro Atlanta area by Friday morning.
Atlanta Public Schools (APS): All APS schools will be closed on Friday. District office employees will work remotely. Expect an update on Friday afternoon regarding activities currently planned for Saturday.
Atlanta Technical College: The campuses will be operating virtually on Friday.
Banks County Schools: Schools will be closed for both students and staff on Friday, with all sports and extracurricular activities canceled.
