High School Student Dies, 2 Others Injured in DeKalb County Crash
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A Lakeside High School student died and two others were injured in a crash over the weekend in the Oak Grove community.
A spokesperson for the DeKalb County Police Department stated, “[DeKalb Police] responded to Oak Grove Road near Kirkland Drive on Feb. 24 around midnight in reference to a single-vehicle accident. The driver and her two passengers were transported to an area hospital with various injuries. One of the passengers later succumbed to her injuries.”
The police have identified the deceased as a 19-year-old student, while the other two passengers involved in the crash have not been named. Details on their current conditions were not immediately available. However, a letter from the school’s principal sent to parents indicated that “they are recovering and in stable condition.”
All three students involved in the tragic incident were enrolled at Lakeside High School, according to the principal’s communication. In response to the devastating news, a grief counselor was present on campus to provide support to students and staff members in need.
