He Is Legend’s Schuylar Croom Talks About Upcoming Show in Atlanta
In one of the most anticipated events of the summer, lead vocalist, Schuylar Croom of He Is Legend, speaks candidly about their upcoming show on June 7th at The Masquerade in downtown Atlanta.
On The Road with a Southern Rock Star
Caught mid journey, Schuylar Croom maintained a sense of humour, despite getting nimbly booted from a McDonald’s break room during our conversation. Despite the minor hiccup, the North Carolina-native was eager to share his insights about the band’s upcoming performances and their latest album, Endless Hallway.
“Atlanta is one of our favorites,” Croom expressed enthusiastically. “The Masquerade, even the Drunken Unicorn, has always been a home. Everyone is always so nice, and we love Slutty Vegan.”
An Unconventional Story
Founded in 2003 in a North Carolina high school, He Is Legend has experienced its ups and downs but their bond runs deep. “If someone was a fly on the wall, they’d think me and Matt were a married couple. I’ve known most of these people more than others my whole life.”
The band’s exceptional journey is reflected in the name of their current tour, “I Am Hollyweird”, an amusing nod to their debut album in 2004, titled “I Am Hollywood”. “Our career is an odd story,” said Croom, “The fans know how strange our story is, and we wanted to distance ourselves from the sound of ‘I Am Hollywood.’
Fans at the Heart of He Is Legend
He Is Legend’s relationship with their fans is one of mutual inspiration. In their 20 years as a band, they have cultivated a comic-like universe, where storylines follow unique characters through intrigues and adventures. “Fans create whole threads on websites that inspire me to continue the universe,” said Croom.
The band, however, came across an unexpected challenge recently, as some members suffered from food poisoning on the road. But after a quick recovery, they were eager to get back on stage.
The Sound that Unites
Despite his stardom, Croom remains grounded, expressing gratitude for their dedicated, passionate fan base. “I’m 41 years old, turning gray, and meeting 12-year-old fans who love our music,” he says, “We listened to Codeseven in high school. Everything has to mean we’re doing something right.”
Continuing their journey with the essence of unity, Croom keenly believes in music’s power in bridging the gaps among humanity. “Music can bring everyone together regardless of race, creed, politics, ideations,” he emphasized, “One sound can capture the world. I believe in its healing qualities.”

He Is Legend set to perform at The Loft in downtown Atlanta, a change from the previously announced venue at The Masquerade. The concert is scheduled for June 7, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the show kicking off at an hour later.
