Georgia Students Among Thousands In U.S. To Earn Merit Scholarships

Several Georgia high-school seniors are among more than 2,900 in the nation to win college-sponsored merit scholarships totaling nearly $26 million

GEORGIA — Several Georgia high-school seniors are among more than 2,900 in the nation to win college-sponsored merit scholarships totaling nearly $26 million, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation said this week. Funding from the scholarships derive from U.S. colleges and universities, and awards range from $500-$2,000 annually for up to four years, the corporation said. Recipients receive funding from the post-secondary institutions in which they plan to attend, the corporation said. By July, more than 3,600 scholarships will be awarded across the U.S. More about the program can be found via the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
