Georgia Representative Arrested, Devan Seabaugh Denies Drug Use Allegations

Arrest Leads to Controversy for Georgia Rep Devan Seabaugh

In recent news, Devan Seabaugh, a representative from Georgia State, was taken into custody after being implicated in an incident involving an alleged-driving-under-the-influence case and colliding with a bicyclist. These events unfolded in the Grant Park neighborhood in Atlanta, making headlines and stirring a wave of concern among the public. Seabaugh stands accused, but maintains his innocence, firmly denying any involvement or negligence.

Seabaugh’s Side of the Story

In the aftermath of the incident and the surrounding chaos, Seabaugh is publicly defending himself against claims of intoxication and drug use at the time of the accident. He insists that he was not under the influence and holds true to his stated principles, “I have never used drugs in my life. I did not use or possess drugs on Thursday evening.”

Furthermore, he defended himself by stating that the accusation of drug use might have been a default charge by law enforcement officers with no evidence to back it up. He does admit, however, that he is certain that law enforcement followed the correct procedures under the circumstances.

Addressing Concerns and Clarifying Facts

Seabaugh also raised a point about the bike lane, claiming it wasn’t well marked and hence, led to the unfortunate incident. He said, “there was not proper signage to let me know it had recently converted into a bike lane.” He believes, the accident was a result of unfortunate circumstances rather than a result of any carelessness or wrongdoing on his part.

Despite the controversy and turmoil surrounding Seabaugh, he has continued to serve his term for House District 34. Having won the seat in a special election in July 2021, Seabaugh represents parts of West Cobb County and parts of both Marietta and Kennesaw. The controversy has added a new dimension to Seabaugh’s reelection campaign this year, where he is set to compete against Democrat Karl Gallegos for the same seat.

Anticipation Builds for the Upcoming Events

As the news of his arrest spreads, the public awaits eagerly for any further developments or responses from Seabaugh or his team. The case comes at a critical time, with a crucial election only a few months away. It remains to be seen how this incident impacts Seabaugh’s reelection campaign, and whether it affects the sentiments of the voters in the upcoming General Election on Nov. 5.
