Discover Fall Fun in Atlanta: Must-See Attractions and Events

With beautiful weather, vibrant fall colors, and plenty of activities, Atlanta is the perfect place to visit this fall. Let’s take a look at some unique experiences you shouldn’t miss out on.

Kids Free September

From September 3 through 30, kids get in free at most attractions with adult/general admission as part of Kids Free September. This is a great opportunity to visit some of Atlanta’s must-see spots with the family. Each attraction offers something special for fall family fun, so be sure to check out what’s available.

Outdoor Adventure Awaits

If you love the outdoors, you’re in for a treat. Atlanta boasts beautiful green spaces and trees showcasing the season’s stunning fall color. Consider planning your next outdoor adventure with the help of our Atlanta outdoor guides. Popular spots include Cascade Springs Nature Preserve and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.

If backpacking interests you, Atlanta is just a 90-minute drive away from the southern starting point of the Appalachian Trail near Amicalola Falls.

Closer to the city, don’t miss a visit to the Chattahoochee Nature Center any time in the fall. Here, you can enjoy guided forest bathing, hikes, and canoe trips.

Seasonal Food and Festivals

Is there anything better than a warm and full belly on a cold day? Fall is synonymous with harvest and thanksgiving, and Atlanta has a range of food festivals to enjoy:

  • The Atlanta Food & Wine Festival takes place at various locations across the city from September 12 through 15.
  • Harvest on the Hooch returns for its 9th annual outdoor food and craft beer festival at the Chattahoochee Nature Center on September 22.
  • Grand Tasting Midtown, an event by Taste of Atlanta, offers unlimited tastes from 25 of Atlanta’s best restaurants along with wine, beer, and cocktail tastings, a dessert bar, and live music on October 17.
  • The Atlanta Chili Cook Off is set to take place at Brook Run Park on Saturday, November 16.

For a year-round gourmet experience, you can also visit one of the MICHELIN-rated Atlanta restaurants.

Self-Care and Solo Ventures

As the ‘ber months begin, it’s important to take some time for yourself. Consider what brings you joy and plan a solo date or two:

  • If you need some rest and relaxation, treat yourself to a Zen getaway at one of the relaxing Atlanta hotels or indulge yourself with treatments at one of the city’s must-try spas.
  • You might also enjoy seeing a new exhibit or taking a unique tour of Atlanta.

Celebrate Diversity

October is a significant month for the LGBTQ+ community in Atlanta. Celebrated around National Coming Out Day on October 11, the Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade invites all to Midtown for a weekend of programming and festivities. The celebrations kick off with the 2024 Georgia Aquarium Pride Kickoff Party.
