Gwinnett County Schools Explore Clear Backpack Policy Following Tragic Shooting
ATLANTA, Ga. – In response to the heartbreaking school shooting that took place in neighboring Barrow County, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is taking steps toward enhancing safety for students. A month after the tragedy, discussions are now underway regarding the potential implementation of a clear backpack policy for students from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade.
GCPS officials have stated that this proposed policy is part of their “ongoing effort to ensure safer schools” across the district.
