Centria Autism Establishes Its First Therapy Service Centre In Atlanta
Atlanta welcomes Centria Autism (Centria), the country’s leading provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, as it recently inaugurated its inaugural Life Skills Autism Academy (LSAA) center in the city. It also represents the organization’s first entry into Georgia. According to statistics from the CDC, one out of every 36 children gets an autism diagnosis, which underscores an increasing requirement for quality behavioral therapy across different segments.
Centria remains steadfastly committed to providing support for those on the autism spectrum, with plans in the pipeline for opening additional centers in Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Oregon, and Virginia. These new centers will join the existing roster that’s spread out in Michigan, Indiana, Arizona, and Texas. The focus of Centria’s LSAA centers remains firmly on early intervention, providing specialized, high-intensive ABA therapy for children with autism. With a viewpoint to serving younger clients, the centers offer treatment for clients up to five years old and are accepting new clients.
Catering to Individual Needs and Aspirations
Centria centers are renowned for offering customized treatment plans that are professionally overseen by a team of Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Behavior Technicians. The primary objective is to focus on building everyday skills and social behavior, enabling children with autism to thrive in a school environment, at home, and within their respective communities. The recently opened LSAA center in Atlanta, spreading over 16,245 square feet, is located at 1640 Phoenix Blvd, on the southwest side of the city. It commenced its services on June 5, using the space as a temporary measure before a permanent location is identified and prepared for later use.
“As we throw open the doors to our first location in Atlanta, this center represents the extension of our ongoing commitment towards serving clients and their families in the community,” commented Timothy Yeager, Chief Clinical Officer at Centria Autism. He expressed optimism that the center’s ability to provide both in-home and center-based services will facilitate delivering therapy services to children in an environment most suited to their individual requirements.
Growing Demand for Autistic Services
Open in full swing, Halee Royal, Director of Clinical Services at the center, confirmed that the temporary location currently serves seven active clients and has a growing waiting list of 17 more kids. Centria selected Atlanta due to its “incredibly underserved area in the south side of Atlanta,” Halee pointed out. She expressed her anticipation that the permanent location, a standalone building just a mile away on Godbey, will be operational within six to nine months. The location is being refurbished to replicate the model Centria has devised for all its Life Skills Autism Academy sites. Royal emphasized the significance of providing early intensive behavior intervention programs using ABA therapy for kids between the ages of two to six.
According to Halee Royal, the ambitious plan for the center in the coming year includes making a difference in every child’s life that walks through its doors and to impart positive changes for the families. “We speak with parents every day, some come in hopeful, others, not so much, and some come in just not knowing what to expect, just knowing that they need help, and that’s our job,” she concluded.
