Teen with Autism Brutally Beaten at School in Clayton County, Parents Allege

ATLANTA, Ga. (HERE NEWS) –

The parents of an 18-year-old teen with autism have come forward with disturbing allegations of a brutal assault on their son while at school in Clayton County. Corey and Marqelle Swindle told HERE NEWS that their son, Marquise Baccus, was reportedly attacked by other students and subjected to name-calling at Riverdale High School last Thursday.

Allegations of Attack

The Swindle’s shared a video of the incident, showing Marquise being physically assaulted and verbally abused by other students in the school hallway. Corey Swindle expressed his shock and anger at the situation, stating, “He was attacked walking down the hallway. He was called slow and retarded.”

According to the parents, Marquise did not receive any medical attention following the assault. They described the nature of the attack, stating, “His head was stomped, punched in the face, slammed up against lockers. There were no schoolteachers, no principals present during the incident. He wasn’t offered to see the school nurse.”

Previous Incidents

This is not the first time Marquise has faced challenges at school. A year and a half ago, Clayton County School Police arrested Marquise and charged him with simple battery after an incident where he was reportedly bullied on a school bus and engaged in a physical altercation.

Marqelle Swindle spoke out against the treatment of her son, saying, “That’s not right, you need to have something done. Marquise bothers nobody. He has a speech delay, so he barely speaks.”

School’s Response

HERE NEWS reached out to Clayton County schools for comment on the recent incident, but they have not yet provided any official statement regarding the allegations made by Marquise’s parents. The school administration is said to be looking into the matter.

Call for Action

Corey Swindle expressed his frustration and called for change in response to the incident, stating, “This is ridiculous. It has to stop! I’m calling for changes to be made.”

The family’s plea for accountability and action in light of the assault on their son has sparked outrage and concern within the community.
