Atlanta Manhunt Ongoing for Suspected Killer Linked to Multiple Shootings

Atlanta Police and FBI on the Hunt for Suspected Killer

In a shocking turn of events, the city of Atlanta finds itself on high alert as local police join forces with the FBI to locate a man accused of taking two lives. The man in question, identified as Corey Comer, is wanted for his alleged involvement in two separate shootings that occurred in the city.

Details of the Tragic Incidents

According to investigators, Comer is believed to have shot and killed Douglas Banks, a 37-year-old man, outside a library located on Cleveland Avenue on May 6. Unfortunately, this incident isn’t an isolated case. Police also suspect that Comer is responsible for the tragic death of Kendarius Davis, a 17-year-old who was fatally shot at an apartment complex on Mount Zion Road SE on November 17.

The Weapon of Choice

What makes these violent actions even more alarming is the type of weapon involved. Authorities claim that Comer utilized a “glock switch”, a dangerous contraption that converts handguns into fully automatic weapons. To put things in perspective, a gun modified with such a switch can fire around 20 rounds in a single second. This modification to a handgun presents serious risks, as noted by FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Sean Burke who stated, “These weapons are very hard to shoot when they become converted to fully automatic. That has the strong propensity to have innocent victims be hit on top of the intended target.”

A Growing Concern

Notably, there has been a tremendous rise in the discovery of these switches at crime scenes across the nation. Between 2012 and 2021, the FBI recorded an astounding 570% increase in the presence of glock switches during their investigations. In fact, the FBI’s Atlanta division has indicated that they encounter these switches in nearly every warrant they execute related to gangs or violent crimes.

A Community Call to Action

The stakes are high, and as the investigation intensifies, authorities are seeking assistance from the public. Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta and the FBI have teamed up to offer a substantial reward of $10,000 for any information leading to an arrest. If you think you’ve spotted Comer or have any helpful information to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.

Safety First

As the manhunt for Corey Comer continues, residents of Atlanta are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. This ongoing situation serves as a sobering reminder of the issues facing our communities and the urgent need for collective action against violent crime.

In the coming weeks, the city remains hopeful that justice will prevail, and that those responsible for these heinous acts will be brought to account. With community support, investigators are optimistic that someone will come forward with information, helping to restore peace to the affected neighborhoods.

Stay tuned for further updates, and remember—if you see something, say something!
