Atlanta Recognizes Exceptional Youth With 2024 Carol D. Reiser Service Awards

Atlanta Celebrates Young Volunteers with Carol D. Reiser Youth Service Awards

Atlanta is buzzing with excitement as the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) has just announced the winners of the 2024 Carol D. Reiser Youth Service Award. This award shines a spotlight on the remarkable contributions young people are making in their communities. Named after the beloved co-founder of CVC, Carol D. Reiser, this award honors her legacy of inspiring future leaders in social impact. It’s all about celebrating those who volunteer their time and talents to make Atlanta and beyond a better place to live.

A Celebration of Volunteerism

With a whopping 30 applications from all over the 13-county Metro Atlanta area, it was no small task for the judges to pick the winners. The CVC selected one winner from the Elementary and Middle School category and two winners from the High School category. Each of these outstanding young volunteers not only walked away with a $500 personal stipend but also took home $1,500 for their chosen nonprofit partner.

And the Winners Are…

The winning recipients truly represent the spirit of community that Carol Reiser fostered during her life. While the specific names of winners weren’t mentioned, we can say that they have exhibited outstanding volunteerism and community engagement in their respective projects. It’s wonderful to see young people stepping up and making real change!

In a heartwarming gesture, the committee also recognized one finalist, Robert Kochensparger, who is a 12th grader at The Westminster Schools. His tireless support for Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is a testament to the good work being done by young people across our vibrant city.

The Perspective from CVC

“After reviewing all of the applications, the Reiser Award Committee was so inspired by the community work and accomplishments of many students across Atlanta,” said Toccara Arnold Alam, President of the CVC of Atlanta Board of Directors. “We are definitely in good hands with the next generation of service-oriented leaders. They truly exemplify the spirit of community that Carol’s legacy represents.”

Arnold Alam went on to express her gratitude to those involved in the selection process, especially Lauren Abbott of King & Spalding, who chaired the award committee. This collaborative effort showcases how the community can come together to recognize and uplift young changemakers.

Looking Ahead

For those wondering how to get involved, applications for the 2025 Reiser Youth Service Awards will be available in the summer of 2025. This program not only awards the dedicated youth, but it also encourages others to engage in civic life and give back to their communities.
