Shooting in Atlanta: 3 Found Wounded in a Car

What Happened?

On a normal Friday afternoon in Atlanta, things turned pretty chaotic pretty fast. Cleveland Avenue, a typically busy road became a crime scene. Three guys were discovered in a car, each with gunshot injuries.

The police zoomed into the scene just after noon, around 12:15 p.m., close to Cleveland Avenue and Browns Mill Road SE. A seriously injured 37-year-old man had been shot many times. Then there was a 28-year-old guy shot in the arm and lastly, a 19-year-old battling with shots to his abdomen and hip. All three fellas were immediately rushed to Grady Hospital for emergency treatment. The oldest man’s condition seemed the most critical of the three as of Friday evening. The other two, though wounded, have been reported to be stable.

When the dust settled, it became apparent that the three injured men, along with another friend, brought their red vehicle to a standstill. The windshield wipers were still active, depicting the haste of the moment.

What’s Next?

As of now, the cops are still trying to wrap their heads around the entire situation. “This ain’t no open and closed case. It’s still very much active. We need the public’s help to locate where the shooting actually took place. If you know something about the incident, you should get in touch with the Aggravated Assault Unit or Crime Stoppers”, urged Lt. April White.

The detectives reckon the shooting did not occur where the victims were found. They’re still working hard to figure out the original crime scene and uncover the series of events that led to this violent act.

Any Evidence?

Surveillance footage from a nearby Mobile gas station may prove quite useful – it’s caught the incident right after the shooting. It clearly shows a black sedan making a drastic move, drawing attention to the red car, before driving off abruptly. Lt. White is urging anyone with information to come forward and collaborate.

Reactions of the Locals

The shooting has struck a nerve amongst locals. Councilman Antonio Lewis was one of the first ones on the scene. “Every time I hear about bullets flying into a car, I can’t help but think of a likely stolen gun involved” he expressed, highlighting the need to prevent such incidents.

However, a woman, Leah, who has spent her entire life on Cleveland Avenue, seemed less perturbed. “This is what happens here, you just got to be safe. That’s it” she reacted, underscoring her desensitization to such violent episodes.

Looking Forward

The fourth chap in the car wasn’t harmed and is currently being interrogated by the detectives. He could potentially provide more clarity on this unfortunate incident. If you or someone you know possesses additional details that could aid the police in their investigation, do not hesitate to reach out to the Atlanta Police Department.
