Atlanta Heats Up with October’s Unseasonable Temperatures, Nearing Record Highs

Atlanta Basks in Unseasonable Heatwave: A Potential Record-Breaker

Hey, Atlanta! If you’ve been stepping outside feeling like it’s a tad warmer than usual, you’re not alone. This week, we’ve been graced with some unseasonably warm weather, pushing the mercury all the way up into the 80s. Now, that’s not something we usually see around this time of the year!

The Heat is On!

For those of you keeping an eye on the weather, this Friday and Saturday are going to be intriguing. Our trusty weather forecasters have their eyes set on a record-breaking high temperature. On Friday afternoon, they’re predicting a high of 83 degrees. If this prediction hits the mark, it’s going to break an 84-year-old record of 82 degrees set way back in 1940. That’s a weather record older than many grandparents out there!

As we move into Saturday, the temperatures aren’t planning to let up either. With a forecast high of 84 degrees, there’s a chance we could tie up with the daily record of 85 degrees set not too long ago in 2010. These back-to-back days of warmth are indeed something to watch out for!

October’s Summer-Like Streak

This October has been nothing short of surprising. Atlanta has experienced a whopping 12 days with temperatures reaching 80 degrees or above through to October 24. We’re wrapping up the month with nearly half the days flaunting those 80-degree markers. Quite a warm October, don’t you think?

The Dry Spell Continues

In addition to the warmth, rain lovers might be feeling a tad disappointed. October has decided to keep its raincoat in the closet, with Atlanta witnessing a complete dry spell throughout the month. As of today, the city has clocked in 24 consecutive days without a single drop of rain. While this stretch of dry days might have some wondering if we’re inching towards a drought, fret not! We haven’t hit drought status yet, even though it’s been noticeably dry.

Ch-ch-changes on the Horizon

Before you pack away all those light layers, hold your horses! This warm streak is expected to take a little break come Sunday. A cooler pattern is anticipated to set in with eastern winds pointing us towards that cooler autumn vibe we’re more accustomed to. While the past month may have felt like a surprise extension of summer, Atlanta’s weather will be dialing it down as the calendar inches forward.

To wrap it up, whether you’ve loved this warm spell or are craving the cool embrace of autumn, this quirky weather twist has certainly given us something to talk about. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and keep an eye on those thermometers, Atlanta!
