Atlanta Mom’s Grief Inspires Online Support Group for Loss Moms

In Atlanta, a spirited mother named Katherine Lazar, has turned the pain of losing her child into a beacon of hope for others. Inspired by her own experience and driven by a desire to offer solace to those who are going through similar painful times, Katherine launched an online support network for moms who have lost their babies.

Overcoming the Unimaginable

At 37 weeks pregnant in January of 2022, Katherine suffered the heart-wrenching loss of her first child, Brody, who was tragically stillborn. This devastating event
changed everything for Katherine, as she lost not just her baby but a huge part of her life. However, it was the understanding and support from three other “loss moms”, moms who had also lost a child, which helped her push through this dark phase of her life.

Finding Support and Giving Back

Despite having an amazing support system from friends and family, Katherine felt the need to connect with people who had been through her exact pain. When she found comfort through a group of three other Atlanta moms who were “loss moms” themselves, she knew she had to do something to help others feel the same. It was then she thought about creating a common platform to bring all such mothers together.

The Birth of Losslink.com

Katherine soon launched her own Facebook group where moms who had experienced such loss could connect and empathize with each other. However, when she noticed how people outside Georgia lacked a reliable platform to connect to their tribe, Katherine thought of building an all-encompassing platform. Thus, losslink.com was born.

Losslink.com is a unique platform designed to act as a safe space for grieving mothers to connect, support, and share resources. In addition to emotional support, mothers can share doctors’ and therapists’ referrals and offer other types of practical help.

A Network that Changes Lives

Katherine’s dedication and labor bore fruit and the day losslink.com launched, profiles of hundreds of grieving mothers began to fill the platform. Unlike other social media platforms where lamenting about one’s loss might seem out of place, on losslink.com, no mom is censored. This platform allows mothers to talk about their lost babies, share their photographs, and celebrate their short lives without the fear of judgment or censorship.

The Legacy of Brody

For Katherine, the success of losslink.com means letting a meaningful legacy live on in Brody’s name. To her, it is rewarding to know that this platform is helping mothers connect, understand, and heal each other’s hearts, all inspired by the child she lost. “To be able to say ‘Brody inspired this, Brody is behind this. Brody is connecting these angel babies’ mothers together,’ has been really rewarding as a mom for a baby that’s gone,” said Katherine, her voice filled with pride and hope.
