Hey there, fellow Atlantans! The holiday season is officially upon us, and our beloved MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) has pulled out all the stops to make this a December to remember! What’s the buzz all about, you might wonder? Buckle up, because here’s the scoop!
If you’ve been cruising around Atlanta lately, you might have spotted one of MARTA’s festive holiday buses rolling down the streets looking every bit the part of the holiday spirit. These jolly buses were decked out on November 21, marking their grand reveal at MARTA’s snazzy Holiday Market at West End Station. But folks, that’s just the start!
Ready to turn a regular commute into a winter wonderland on wheels? The ride through MARTALand has officially begun and it’s nothing short of a winter carnival! With live performances, chances to grab some nifty MARTA holiday swag, and yes, even prize giveaways, this is one transit journey you won’t want to miss.
Mark your calendars, because some events are exclusive and you don’t want to miss them! On Thursday, December 12, from 3 to 6 p.m., hop over to the H.E. Holmes Station for a heartwarming holiday customer appreciation event. Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa, nibble on some holiday treats, take a spin at the prize wheel for custom Breeze cards and MARTA goodies, and snap a selfie with Santa himself. And guess who’s taking care of the tunes? It’s DJ Sed the Saint, spinning up some festive beats.
Can’t get enough of that holiday music? Listen up for the melody of the Tinseltones, spreading their melodious cheer from 3 to 5 p.m. at various MARTA stations across December. Look out for them at:
But wait, there’s more music magic! If you’re taking the Atlanta Streetcar, enjoy some live holiday performances from noon to 3 p.m. on:
Get your drama fix as performers from True Colors Theatre and OutFront Theatre put on a spectacular show at Midtown Station on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from noon to 1 p.m. It’s a short but sweet performance that promises a seasonal twist you’d hate to miss!
And here’s the cherry on top: Now through December 31, rides on the MARTA holiday buses are totally free. Surprise Rides, holiday customer celebrations, streetcar concerts, and even theatrical performances round out the rest of the schedule!
For all the nitty-gritty on these MARTALand happenings, be sure to check MARTA’s official website. So, whether you rely on MARTA for your daily commute or you’re just in the mood for some festive cheer, these events are sure to light up your winter days. All aboard for a holly, jolly season!
