August is all set to roll out exciting events, activities, and fun galore to commemorate Lenox’s monumental influence and contributions to the community. So folks, mark your calendars for the grand public celebration on August 1st and join us at 10 a.m. on the top level between Nike and Apple.

On August 5th, the Atlanta City Council is all set to pay a tribute to Lenox Square’s 65 extraordinary years with a special shout-out during their general council meet. Be sure to peek into it at 1 p.m. at the Atlanta City Hall in the Marvin S. Arrington, Sr. Council Chamber.

Do you know the fascinating chapter of Lenox’s coming into existence? Let’s trek down the path of Lenox Square’s rich history:
- In 1956, Ed Noble, a Kansas City developer, picked up the site for the mall.
- The three-level Lenox Square, unveiled between 1960 and 1963, was a sprawling retail hub of 800,000 square feet and housed sixty varied tenants.
- Expansion and renovation transformed Lenox in the 1970s – adding a new wing and welcoming the pricy Neiman Marcus, a prized gadget in the Lenox square cap.
- Fast forward to 1995 and another expansion made Lenox the biggest shopping center in Georgia.
- 2007-2014 saw Neiman Marcus expand by 52,000 square feet, adding an upper level to connect to the main mallway.
A Giant Retail Hub
With over 35 million visitors stepping in every year, today’s Lenox Square has emerged as a bustling hub of commerce and community in the nation. What started as an open-air shopping center with 60 shops, today boasts nearly 250 stores and is Southeast’s leading retail destination.
