Atlanta’s Job Market Shows Signs of Fluctuation

Hey there, Atlanta! We’ve got some news about our job market that has been making waves lately. According to the latest report from Georgia’s Labor Commissioner, our unemployment rate ticked up to 4.0 percent in August. That’s a slight increase from the 3.8 percent we saw in July, and it also reflects a rise from 3.5 percent this time last year. It looks like it’s a bit of a mixed bag in the world of work right now.

Now, let’s break down what this means for all of us. From July to August, the labor force in Atlanta shrank by some 30,742 people, bringing the total to around 3,269,266 individuals. The job count in sectors like Local Government surged by 9,000, and Health Care and Social Assistance gained 5,800 positions. Meanwhile, Private Educational Services brought in 3,500 additional jobs, followed by State Government adding 2,400 jobs, and Specialty Trade Contractors contributing 1,000.
