Atlanta, are you ready for a fresh twist on local shopping? Plans are in motion to launch an indoor farmer’s market right in the heart of the city! Scheduled to open in the summer of 2025, the Upper West Market aims to bring the best of local flavors to residents and visitors alike, all under one roof. This incredible new spot will occupy nearly 10,000 square feet just outside of Buckhead, specifically located at 1385 Collier Road.
For those who appreciate local produce, meats, and other artisanal foods, the Upper West Market promises to be nothing short of a culinary delight. According to Ben Hautt from Robles Partners, the organization managing this thrilling venture, there are tons of food halls in Atlanta, but there isn’t a place that’s truly dedicated as a farmer’s market. “Atlanta doesn’t have anything like this,” Hautt expressed. “If you look at most major cities around the world, they have an indoor facility where local producers can sell produce,” he added while referencing iconic spots like Pike’s Place Market in Seattle and London’s Borough Market as inspirations for their upcoming market.
The Upper West Market not only acknowledges the need for a local gathering spot but also emphasizes the importance of supporting our local farmers. How awesome would it be to grab grass-fed beef from White Oak Pastures or fresh veggies for your evening salad, all sourced from Georgia farms? “A lot of us that live in the area might drive 40 minutes to Dekalb Farmers Market,” Hautt pointed out. The goal is to consolidate these options, so everyone can enjoy high-quality local products right in their neighborhood.
Meanwhile, it’s no secret that farmers are facing challenges due to rising costs and inflation. By shopping at Upper West Market, you can help lift these local agricultural heroes and provide them some much-needed love and support while enriching your own culinary adventures.
Excitement is building not just for the produce available at Upper West, but for the entire mixed-use development surrounding it! The site will also house Summerland Café, helmed by acclaimed Michelin-star chef Anne Quatrano, plus a stylish venue known as Hop City Wine Bar. The event space will stretch out over 26,000 square feet, complete with an outdoor garden. Imagine hosting gatherings in the lovely surroundings of an outdoor garden—what a perfect combination!
In keeping with that community vibe, the development will also feature office spaces, indoor and outdoor seating options, and an indoor bistro. Plus, there will be cooking classes, seasonal celebrations, and special events, allowing both locals and visitors a chance to mingle, learn, and grow together in the kitchen.
As we look forward to the Upper West Market opening its doors in 2025, we can envision it becoming a true hub for food lovers and community members alike. With every corner providing a way to engage with local flavors, it’s a homegrown approach to dining and shopping that Atlanta has been waiting for.
So, let’s get excited, Atlanta! This indoor farmer’s market promises to add another layer of flavor and connection to our amazing city. Remember the date and be sure to mark your calendars for the summer of 2025—big things are heading our way!
