Atlanta — Anticipation is building as Atlanta Botanical Garden gears up for its 14th annual Garden Lights, Holiday Nights spectacle, which opens on November 16 and runs nightly through January 12. Tapped as the nation’s best professional light display by ABC-TV in 2023, this year’s event promises to be even more mesmerizing.
Tickets for this enchanting light show will go on sale to the general public starting October 1. However, those who are eager for early access and discounted prices can secure their tickets as early as September 1 by becoming Garden members. Memberships are available at membership@atlantabg.org.
This year’s show, presented by Invesco QQQ, will feature an expanded “Nature’s Wonders” display. The beloved curtain of light, set in the woodlands and synchronized to music, will include more vertical strands than ever before. Adding to the magic, some of the giant, topiary-like plant sculptures from this summer’s blockbuster exhibition Alice’s Wonderland Returns will be dramatically lit, including towering figures like the White Rabbit, the chess set, and the Cheshire Cat.
Returning by popular demand are the illuminated metal sculptures by French artist Cedric Le Borgne. Attendees will delight in seeing the two grazing deer and six birds either perched among the hardwoods or taking flight through the treetops.
Last year’s Garden Lights, Holiday Nights was honored as the best professional light display in the country by ABC’s prime-time show The Great Christmas Light Fight after competing in the Heavyweights division. The prestigious Light Fight trophy can be viewed at the Hardin Visitor Center within the Garden.
Tickets for this dazzling display, including discounted ones for members, are available at atlantabg.org. For more information on becoming a member, attendees can email membership@atlantabg.org. The Atlanta Botanical Garden is located at 1345 Piedmont Ave NE, and additional details about the event can be obtained by calling 404-876-5859.
“Final Audition, Last Chance for the Role of a Lifetime,” an inspirational new comedy written and directed by Chicago author and playwright, John Ruane, will be debuting soon. The play tells the poignant story of actress Sally Cochrane, who after 30 years of striving for her big break, faces a tough decision to either continue her pursuit or return to Normal, Illinois.
Actor’s Express will complete its 36th season with the world premiere of A Third Way by Atlanta playwright Lee Osorio. This event is held in association with the Del Shores Foundation.
The Atlanta Shakespeare Company at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse will present Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, adapted by John Stephens from September 7-29, 2024, directed by Kati Grace Kirby.
Horizon Theatre continues its 40th season with the outrageously funny and immensely touching comedy Wild With Happy, playing from August 16 to September 15, with a press opening on August 23.
