Hey y’all, guess what! A magnificent spectacle of original artistry is coming to Atlanta. This time, it’s the Atlanta Fine Art Print Fair that’s creating a buzz. Set to happen over the weekend of August 10 through 11, 2024, the event is chock-full of goodies for all you art lovers out there!
Happening for a solid two and a half hours, this epic art jam will feature an array of work from some super dope contemporary artists. Guess who’s making appearances? None other than Steve Prince, Traci Mims, and Jamaal Barber.
These creative greats will be laying out their most recent masterpieces for your appreciation. Plus, you can get a peek into how they operate their artistic magic, showing how they turn a mere idea into a full-blown, mind-blowing work of art. Isn’t that something cool to check?
Let’s dig deep into the artists now, shall we?
Steve Prince, a renowned printmaker, is revealing a fresh 24” x 36” print inspired by James Baldwin. Catch this: folks visiting the fair can watch Prince work his magic through a hands-on workshop, from coming up with the concept to printing an edition. He’s also going to lead a talk about how artists serve as emotional and spiritual historians. Sounds intense, doesn’t it?
Next up, we have Traci Mims from our very own Atlanta, bringing her diverse artistry to the table. She’s no one-trick pony, her portfolio boasts printmaking, painting, drawing, quilting, and sculpture. She focuses on themes of Black identity, culture, and social justice in her work. Guess what, she’s also revealing a print of James Baldwin at the event. She’s been sweeping up accolades, including the McClain Award for Relief Printmaking and an Artist Fellowship Inc. Grant. Look out for her!
Last, but not least, the accomplished printmaker and visual artist, Jamaal Barber, will grace the fair with his new works. He’ll show off everything from his interpretation of James Baldwin to a metal sculpture that talks printmaking and multiplicity.
The Atlanta Fine Art Print Fair is more than just an exhibition. It’s an event that offers artists a stage to show off their new creations, share their techniques, and connect with audiences in a dynamic and personal way.
So die-hard art devotees, now you know. The fair is taking place at Black Art In America, which is located at 1802 Connally Drive in East Point. Make sure you keep the date free!
