DINING OUT FOR LIFE 2024 in Atlanta Embraces the Cause of Nutrition-Sensitive Chronic Diseases

Atlanta’s Bustling Food Scene Unites in a Philanthropic Feast for a Vital Cause

In a remarkable display of solidarity amongst Atlanta’s culinary community, more than 60 local restaurants are choosing to embrace the cause of meal delivery to individuals living with nutrition-sensitive chronic diseases, at-risk youth, families, and homebound seniors. They have pledged their participation in one of Atlanta’s most anticipated annual events: the Dining Out For Life on April 24, 2024.

Open Hands Behind the Grand Gesture

The event is a part of Open Hand’s 31st Annual Dining Out For Life mission, a charity aiming to spread healthy and nutritious food to those struggling with chronic illnesses or food insecurities. Some of the participant top-notch restaurants making this year’s event special are the delicious Word of Mouth Restaurants, delightful Sorella Vicina, loved Tiny Lou’s, and popular Buena Vida Tapas Bar. For the complete roster of participating restaurants, the Dining Out For Life website has been made available.

Matthew Pieper, the Executive Director of Open Hand, comments on the event,

“Through this annual event, we witness the community coming together to support those in need of Open Hand’s healthy and nutritious meals. Dining Out For Life is a simple yet impactful way for diners to savor their favorite restaurants or venture into new culinary experiences, all while making a difference and giving back in the process.”

Since the inception of the event in 1993, Atlanta’s food enthusiasts, chefs, and restaurant owners have come together to raise over $3 million for the cause, stabilizing the city’s fight against chronic diseases and hunger.

How Can Attendants Help During the Event?

Each year, thousands of supporters dine out in the participating establishments, knowing that these restaurants will pledge a fraction of the proceeds to Open Hand’s mission. The funds raised during this one-day affair enable Open Hand to deliver 5,000 nutritious meals daily and improve local residents’ ability to manage their chronic diseases and disabilities.

Attendees can contribute in various ways:

  • Donate to Open Hand online via their website
  • Connect with Open Hand through social media platforms and share posts and information
  • Enjoy restaurant dine-in or takeout on April 24

Dining Out For Life: A True Atlanta Tradition

As the event prepares for its 31st iteration, it continues to epitomize the generous heart of the local community by ensuring that even a night out for a meal can contribute to a greater good.

Dining Out For Life, hence, embodies the maxim that Atlanta isn’t just about world-class food and culinary experiences, but also about a community that looks out for each other.
