Interstellar Alliance: Lunar Vacation and Atlanta Braves Team Up For New Single ‘Tom’

Atlanta is known for many things: peaches, traffic… and now it’ll be known for an extra-special collaboration. Local band Lunar Vacation has teamed up with none other than the Atlanta Braves to release a new single, ‘Tom’.

Joining Forces

Lunar Vacation, a Decatur-based band, is set to release their second album, “Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire”, next month. They’ve just dropped another single from it, ‘Tom’, filled with the thrill and angst that comes with a crush. It’s a light-hearted and relatable track, bound to get stuck in your head.

The story behind the tune is quite a journey. The song was started by lyricist, vocalist, and guitarist Gep Repasky many years ago and was initially named after Tom Schwartz from Vanderpump Rules’ reality TV fame. But as Repasky revisited the song years later, he decided to revise some of the lyrics, ultimately making it about unrequited love between him and a coworker.

A Unique Sports-Music Union

This single is more than just a catchy tune. Lunar Vacation and the Atlanta Braves baseball team have come together for the release of the track. And how are they doing this, you ask? They’re dishing out the single in the form of vinyl records at a baseball game. That’s right, the first 15,000 fans at the Braves vs. Brewers game on August 7th will get a chance to grab a 7″ vinyl record of ‘Tom’.

They chose three of Braves’ pitcher Spencer Strider’s favorite local bands – Lunar Vacation, Trash Panda, and Dinner Time. Each band will have 5,000 vinyl records up for grabs. Strider explains, “I remember exactly when and where I first heard Lunar Vacation—that’s how immediately they became one of my favorite groups.”

More to Look Forward to

You can also catch Lunar Vacation on tour soon as they’ll be supporting other popular bands like Manchester Orchestra and Thrice. “Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire” – produced by Drew Vandenberg (who has worked with Faye Webster, Toro y Moi, Of Montreal) and is due for release on September 13th.

The band members, who have been friends since childhood, now live under the same roof and together, they’ve formed a formidable musical bond. Their forthcoming album is sure to be a testament to their journey so far.

Keep an eye out for Lunar Vacation. This band is highlighting that everything truly does matter, and everything, indeed, ‘is on fire’.
