Atlanta Gears Up to Welcome Its First Atlanta Art Fair at Pullman Yards

Time to get your art appreciation hats on, Atlanta! The city is about to become an art paradise with the arrival of the inaugural Atlanta Art Fair. Mark your calendars, folks, because this exciting event is taking place from Thursday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 6. Set in the historic Pullman Yards, this four-day extravaganza aligns perfectly with the third edition of Atlanta Art Week.

Spearheaded by the enthusiastic Kelly Freeman, Director of Art Market Productions, and in collaboration with Intersect Art and Design, the fair promises to transform Atlanta into an inclusive hub of creativity. As the city continues to carve its niche as a bustling art hub in the United States, what better way to celebrate this growth than with a vibrant, regionally driven show?

A Showcase of Diverse Talent

The ambition behind the Atlanta Art Fair is clear: to be a thriving cultural catalyst amplifying artistic exchange and nurturing Atlanta’s unique art history. The event will spotlight works from over 100 artists featured in nearly 60 exhibitor booths. Plus, with over 30 partnerships with institutions, this fair is massive on connectivity!

Leading the effort as the Artistic Director is Nato Thompson, who alongside Atlanta-based guest curators Lauren Jackson Harris and Karen Comer Lowe, will infuse local touchpoints throughout the fair. From Harris’s showcase of Georgia’s emerging artists to Lowe’s presentation honoring artists like Navin Norling and Pam Longobardi, art enthusiasts are in for a treat.

What’s on Offer?

Delve into the dedicated booths of cultural partners like Art Papers, Dashboard Co-Op, and the Millennium Gate Museum. Haven’t heard of Pilar’s PORTALS? Well, you’d better check out the cutting-edge blends of technology and nature. Georgia Tech is also making waves with its emphasis on art and technology intersections.

And here’s the exciting part: you’ll see large-scale sculptures and immersive installations by artists like Sergio Suárez, Gyung Hur and more. The wide galleries showcased will offer everything from thought-provoking exhibitions to vibrant and colorful masterpieces.

Conversations and More

For those with keen interest in dialogues, the Atlanta Art Fair Theater has a series of engaging talk programs. Listen to engaging discussions on “Art in Action: Navigating Identity, Culture, and Environmental Crisis” or ponder over being a Southern artist in the modern world. In “Preserving Artists’ Legacies,” you’ll journey through stories and narratives shared by artists and curators amplifying voices from the South. And don’t miss the book signing for “New South”!

Connecting Atlanta to the World

Yes, our southern gem is ready to dazzle not just regionally but internationally. Local talent meets global influence as galleries from Los Angeles, New York, South Korea, and beyond, join hands with our homegrown talent. The fair also elevates regional arts with participants hailing from Florida, North Carolina, and more. You might just spot your next favorite international artist here!

So, gear up, art lovers! This entire setup is bound to enhance Atlanta’s cultural landscape, offer commercial platforms to support art ecosystems, and connect artists to broader audiences. As you head to Pullman Yards, remember—this journey is just as much about looking back at our rich, diverse past as it is about dreaming up a bright, colorful tomorrow. Don’t let this inaugural splash pass you by!
