Metro Atlanta High School Marching Band to Perform at White House Easter Event
Jonesboro High School’s Majestic Marching Cardinals to Showcase Talent at White House Easter Egg Roll
ATLANTA, Ga. (HERE NEWS) – After performing in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and even in a recent Super Bowl commercial, a Clayton County high school marching band is now headed for the White House. Jonesboro High School’s Majestic Marching Cardinals, which is made up of more than 150 students, is set to perform at the 2024 White House Easter Egg Roll on April 1. First Lady Jill Biden surprised the band with a special video call during after-school rehearsal on Wednesday.
Special Invitation to Perform
“I can’t wait until you come to the White House,” she told the students. More than 40,000 people are expected to participate in this year’s Easter “EGGucation” Roll, where the White House’s South Lawn and Ellipse will be filled with fun educational activities. Band Hall, where the Majestic Marching Cardinals are expected to perform alongside three other bands, is among the attractions.
Expanding Horizons through Music
The marching band is also scheduled to perform in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Travel is a huge piece of our band program, just so they can realize there is more to the world than just Jonesboro, Georgia,” Lynel Goodwin, the high school’s band director, previously told HERE NEWS. “The possibilities are limitless.”
