Atlanta, a city known for its progressive movements and forward-thinking initiatives, hosted an extraordinary community dialogue event on Tuesday, July 9, a part of the ongoing redefinED Atlanta series. The event titled “Partnering for Progress: Expectations, Hopes, and Dreams for the Next APS Superintendent” focused on offering a dynamic platform to discuss Atlanta Public Schools’ policies and discuss innovative ideas that can be implemented across the school district.
The redefinED Atlanta events aim at fostering conversation and engagement amongst community members to contribute actively to the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) for this academic year and beyond. The focus remains on creating and enhancing an enriching learning environment that suits all learning needs of every student in Atlanta. It provides an undiluted ground for people to envision and dream big for the prosperity of the city’s students.
The session, “Partnering for Progress: Expectations, Hopes, and Dreams for the Next APS Superintendent” was moderated by Juma Sei. The conversation was rooted in the visions and dreams of attendees for the next leader of the APS. This discussion significantly illustrates how different community members visualize the leadership that will shape the future of the Atlanta Public Schools.
The dialogue series, held at the Louise Whatley Library in Southeast Atlanta, offered a schedule from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The venue, 1463 Pryor Rd SW, welcomed all interested individuals to contribute their thoughts and ideas towards an anticipatory discussion beneficial for the larger educational community.
WABE’s mission revolves primarily around “Inform, inspire, reflect and empower our greater Atlanta community.” The organization strives to achieve this through the news, information, and entertainment they disseminate via various platforms such as radio, TV, smartphones, cars, smart speakers, and their online presence.
WABE strongly encourages everyone to become a member and help the organization in its mission, offering several ways for the people to contribute. To do this, supporters can donate, join as a Sustaining Member or Cornerstone Society member, enroll for Passport for PBS onDemand, or simply make a direct donation.
As redefinED Atlanta continues to invite community members to its events, the dialogue series emerges as a reflective space for discussing innovative policies across the Atlanta Public Schools district. Emphasis on enriching the learning environment for every student marks the commitment to student advancement in APS. Such initiatives working towards progressive education and better school policies pave the way for a brighter and more inclusive learning community in Atlanta.
