Atlanta Authorities Seek Public Help in Finding Fugitive

WSB Now in ATLANTA – Have you seen Charles Dennis Ellis? That’s the question Fulton County authorities are urgently asking the community as they intensify their search for a man who has been on the run for quite some time. This Sandy Springs resident has been missing since 2017, skipping out on serious legal matters.

Who is Charles Dennis Ellis?

To recap, Ellis is a 53-year-old white male, standing at around 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing nearly 195 pounds. He’s been part of the IT world, which might be where some of you have unknowingly crossed paths with him. His story took a dramatic turn in 2013 when he was first arrested by Sandy Springs police for simple battery-family violence. After that, things just snowballed.

Why Is Ellis on the Run?

Following the 2013 arrest, Ellis was released on a $1,000 bond. But don’t be fooled, things didn’t end there. A deeper look into his actions during that period uncovered more serious accusations. By 2017, Ellis was facing charges that include terroristic threats, rape, incest, and aggravated assault. He was officially indicted in 2017 but didn’t show up in court to confront these charges.

As for Ellis’s whereabouts, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office believes he made a swift exit from Georgia in late 2013. At the time, his flight might have appeared dubious, but in hindsight, it seems more like a desperate attempt to escape his mounting legal crises.

Crime Stoppers Offer Reward

In a bid to finally bring Ellis to justice, Crime Stoppers Atlanta is offering a tempting reward – up to $10,000. That’s right, if you have any tips that could lead to his capture, this might be your chance to do some good and get some cash while you’re at it. Just remember, to qualify for this reward, share your information with Crime Stoppers Atlanta by dialing 404-577-8477.

The Ongoing Case

A fascinating aspect of this case is that it hasn’t slipped through the cracks. Even though Ellis remains elusive, there’s a judicial hold on the indictment, thanks to Fulton Superior Court Judge Craig Schwall’s decision in 2019. This kept the case alive and kicking, just waiting for Ellis to finally face the music.

Be on the Lookout

The authorities are counting on public vigilance. So, as you go about your day in Atlanta or elsewhere, keep an eye out for Ellis. And should you stumble upon any clues that might point to his current whereabouts, know that you have the power to help resolve a longstanding issue – and maybe even earn yourself a tidy reward.

Stay safe, everyone, and let’s keep our community secure by watching each other’s backs.
