The radio hour features powerful voices such as music legend Joan Baez, acclaimed writer Roxane Gay, and Saturday Night Live cast member Leslie Jones, amongst others. The diverse backgrounds of these artists are testament to the radio hour’s efforts to champion women’s contributions in different fields and help their narratives reach a larger audience.

A New Way to Celebrate Women’s Contribution

This special radio hour by WABE and The Bitter Southerner reflects a new pathway to celebrate women’s contributions in various fields across arts and culture. It aligns with WABE’s vision of serving the community by providing high-quality content, and also aligns with Bitter Southerner’s goal to share stories about the American South that have been overlooked or underrepresented in mainstream media.

With this collaboration, the two organizations aim to shine a light on the ceaseless creativity, tireless efforts, and numerous contributions of women, often unacknowledged and underappreciated. This radio hour not only celebrates women but also encourages them to continue making their voices heard and their stories told.
