Emory Healthcare and Primrose Schools Bring $3.5 Million Early Education Project to Atlanta
In a ground-breaking collaboration, Emory Healthcare is partnering with Primrose Schools to establish an exceptional early education center in Atlanta. The new initiative, appropriately named the Primrose School at Emory Healthcare – Northlake Campus, is expected to commence operations in the summer of 2024. More than 175 children will get the chance to benefit from this initiative, the goal of which is to provide a professional and high-quality educational experience to the offspring of Emory Healthcare employees, Emory University employees, and residents in and around Atlanta.
Addressing Demand for High-Quality Early Education
The $3.5 million project is part of an employer-sponsored program and is a joint collaboration with the Primrose on Premise®, a segment of the renowned early education leader, Primrose Schools. Rock Anderson, the Chief Human Resources Officer for Emory Healthcare, stated the idea evolved from their commitment to their employees and a desire to meet the increasing demand for childcare in the Northlake community.
STEM-based Balanced Learning Curriculum
The Balanced Learning curriculum implemented at Primrose School is a unique blend of purposeful play and nurturing guidance from educators. This STEM-based, research-informed curriculum encourages curiosity, creativity, compassion, and confidence among students.
Raising Future Leaders in Northlake Community
Already known for their passionate contribution to early education, experienced Primrose franchise owners Laura and Paul Stechmesser are thrilled to build on their stellar reputation and continue to serve the children of the Northlake community on a larger scale. With three children of their own, the Stechmessers comprehend the importance and struggles in securing high-quality early education and care, and they affirm their commitment to positively impact the lives of young children in their community.
The Physical Infrastructure for Learning and Play
The proposed Primrose School at Emory Healthcare – Northlake Campus will sprout on an impressive 13,000 square foot property. The school will boast 11 classrooms, secure and age-appropriate playgrounds, and a selection of developmental resources, including toys, books, and furniture. Located in Northlake Mall’s mixed-use development, the school will generate approximately 45 jobs and have a significant economic impact on the local community.
Enrollment and Tuition Subsidies
The Northlake Campus is open for enrollment for children aged between 6 weeks old and 5 years old. It will also offer after-school care for school-going children. Remarkably, Emory Healthcare and Emory University employees can benefit from subsidized tuition based on their income while enrolling their children at this new school.

The Chief Executive Officer of Primrose Schools, Jo Kirchner, lauded the joint venture with Emory Healthcare. She believes this newest school will continue Primrose’s mission to provide high-quality early education and care to families in Atlanta and help meet the increasing demand for such services.
