1. To Kill a Mockingbird at the Fox Theatre

Hailed as a must-see for any fan of literature or theater, the Broadway adaptation of Harper Lee’s ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ is taking the Fox Theatre’s stage through Sunday, May 12. The production, directed by Aaron Sorkin, delivers fresh perspectives on Lee’s eternally resonant novel and features Emmy Award winner Richard Thomas in the role of Atticus Finch, with Morehouse alumni Yaegel Welch playing Tom Robinson.

2. Taste of Alpharetta

As the longest-running food and drink festival in the metro area, the Taste of Alpharetta offers attendees a gastronomic exploration with over 60 restaurants showcasing their best bites on Thursday, May 9. The festival also boasts live music on multiple stages and a KidZone packed with activities. Attendees are also invited to cast votes for their favorites across several categories.

3. OMG Hip-Hop Food Fest at Atlantic Station

A unique blend of food and music, the OMG Hip-Hop Food Fest hits Atlantic Station on Saturday, May 11. The festival features local chefs serving up a variety of small bites, while DJs and bands fuel the atmosphere with a mix of rap classics, R&B, old school, and hip-hop beats.

4. Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade

On Saturday, May 11, the Atlanta BeltLine will be brought to life by a dazzling procession of lanterns in the fourteenth annual Lantern Parade. The event, which begins at Adair Park and ends at the Lee & White complex, includes a parade featuring over a hundred official lantern puppets and five marching bands. Attendees are encouraged to bring homemade lanterns and join in the vibrant march lit by the warm glow of creativity.

5. Atlanta Center for Photography Block Party & Exhibition

Community meets art in this one-of-a-kind event on Edgewood Avenue. Happening on Saturday, May 11, the Atlanta Center for Photography has partnered with local businesses to organize a block party and exhibition celebrating local artists. In addition to viewing works at the ACP Project Lab, party-goers can participate in face-painting by local artist William Downs, and enter raffles for prizes.

Sports Corner: Atlanta Home Games

As an added treat, sports enthusiasts can relish some home games in the city. The Atlanta United will be competing against DC United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, May 11. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves host the Chicago Cubs at Truist Park from May 13 to May 15.
